Gabriel Santander graduated in Composition from the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid - RCSMM in 2009, received the First Prize in the Flora Prieto Composition Competition 2010, and at the Clang Cut Book Composition Competition, held by the KNM Berlin in 2013.

He has attended Composition courses with K. Stockhausen, B. Ferneyhough, M. Jarrell and José María Sánchez Verdú, among others, and seminars on Sound Art with Sam Auinger, Bernhard Leitner, Martin Supper and Sabine Sanio at the Universität der Künste - UDK Berlin, while studying with Peter Ablinger.

His works have been performed by ensembles such as Ensemble Komboï, the Artwork Ensemble, KNM Berlin, Taller Sonoro or Grup Instrumental de València, and soloists such as Hajdi Elzeser, Damir Bacikin, Katharina Bäuml, Lina Tur Bonet, or Irene Kurka, in Europe, Morocco, and Argentina.

He has been Professor at Professional Conservatoires in Madrid and the Universidad Internacional de Valencia - VIU from 2018-2025, and is currently Professor in Harmony and Analysis at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid - RCSMM.
